Guide to use iPad's unlimited data plan on iPhone

Apple, with AT&T, has managed to provide a very attractive unlimited data plan to be used with the iPad 3G. But some may be wondering to utilize that unlimited plan with their iPhone, while the iPhone accepts a regular SIM and iPad 3G accepts a micro SIM. So trying to use the micro SIM in the iPhone SIM card tray (regular SIM shape) for using the unlimited data package is not a simple task. But here I am giving a details guide to give a punch to the problem.

I’m going to show you to do the exact replica of the regular SIM shape from micro SIM. Some sites are incorrectly reporting that you need a Jailbroken iPhone for this work, whereas it is not so important (i.e. everybody can avail the service).

Step By Step Guide To Avail Unlimited Data Plan:

• Step 1: Remove both your iPad’s Micro SIM card and your iPhone’s regular sized SIM card.

• Step 2: Find an expired debit card, gift card, or a calling card that you don’t need any more. Then place your iPhone’s SIM card flush with the top edge and an outline of it is to be traced.

• Step 3: Take a pair of scissors and cut out your SIM template. Then Place your Micro SIM card on the top of your template and line up the contact points with your iPhone’s SIM and trace around it.

• Step 4: Cut out the middle of your template to avail room for the Micro SIM with a razor blade. Next place a small piece of scotch tape on the backside of the template to stick the Micro SIM.

At this stage a small but big problem will occur in the software. If you pull up Safari you’ll get the error message, “Could not activate cellular data network”. But we can fix that!

• Step 5: Make your iPhone connected to a Wi-Fi network. Then visit http://unlockit.co.nz and tap on Continue.

• Step 6: Tap Custom APN, then enter Broadband in the APN field.

• Step 7: Now in this step leave the remaining fields blank and tap on Create Profile, then on Install (Follow the pop-ups to complete installation). At last tap Done and the task is complete.

Here one most important thing is to be noted that in order to go back as previously you have i.e. to use your iPhone SIM, you have to go to Settings > general > scroll down and tap Profile > APN Carrier Settings > tap on Remove button. For more easy, please watch the video.
